God Deserves My Best - Psalm 101
From the series "Heartblog." - Psalm 101 - Wed, December 29, 2010. It’s almost 2011. It’s time for a new start on a clean slate. But where should we start and how do we do it? David wrote Psalm 101 as he began a new venture in his life as well. The key is standing for God and standing against sin. Don’t compromise. Give God your best in 2011 – He deserves it.
Middle School Jesus - Luke 2:39-52
A topical teaching from the book of Luke - Sunday December 26, 2010. The main images we have in our American minds is of Jesus with flowing robes and sandals, teaching, healing, and being crucified. Before all of that happened though, He spent 30 years growing and preparing. Whatever age you are, be ready for God’s calling and be obsessed with obeying it.

In addition to the birth of a baby, our hope of salvation was born! There’s reason to celebrate!

Submission to Authority is ...To Be Continued - 1 Peter 2:13-17
From the series "To Be Continued." - 1 Peter 2:13-17 - Sun, December 12, 2010. “Submission” is a buzz-word. We were born not wanting to submit! However, as Christians, not only are we commanded to submit, but it’s to our benefit. As we submit to authority, we take away the enemy’s opportunity to bad-mouth us. So be honest. Be submissive. Be a servant…and watch God move!

He is the ultimate hiding spot through every circumstance.

They want to entice you to purchase. As a Christian, you’re in the advertising business as well. Your life of obedience should be so enticing to those in the world that they can’t resist Jesus.

God Has the Final Say - Psalm 58
From the series "Heartblog." - Psalm 58 - Wed, November 10, 2010. Revenge is sweet…at least, that’s how it’s advertised. In reality, revenge is bitter, because it doesn’t belong to you in the first place. The Bible makes it very clear that vengeance belongs to God. It’s ok to be angry with sin and injustice, but rest in God’s righteousness to judge when the time is right.

From the series "To Be Continued." - 1 Peter 1:13-16 - Sun, October 24, 2010. As a Christian, you are called to ONE purpose: holiness. From the series "Heartblog." - Psalm 32 - Wed, October 20, 2010. Sin is fun…for a little while. Eventually, though, it will catch up to you. God is ready to forgive, replacing the pain with pleasure!

From the series "To Be Continued." - 1 Peter 1:10-12 - Sun, October 17, 2010. There's No Place Like Rome - Acts 28:11-31
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 28:11-31 - Wed, August 25, 2010. When a team runs a relay race in a track meet, each runner is responsible for their leg of the race. It’s the same with our “race” as Christians. We each have a specific calling and responsibility to fulfill as we run our race. Do all that you do to the fullest so that you can pass the baton and finish well.

GOMER: Lust vs. Love - Hosea 1-3
From the series "The Forgotten." - Hosea 1-3 - Sun, August 22, 2010. 30-35% of people on dating websites meant for singles are actually already in a relationship. As sickening as that is to think about, it’s a graphic illustration of what our sin puts God through – it’s like we’re cheating on Him. Despite what you’ve done though, God still loves you. Don’t fall for lust – it’s a lie.

JEHORAM: A Life Wasted - 2 Chronicles 21
From the series "The Forgotten." - 2 Chronicles 21 - Sun, August 15, 2010. Many celebrity kids are successful because they ride on the coat tails of their celebrity parents. Christianity doesn’t work that way – a life of commitment to Christ is a choice that must be made personally. Don’t follow the temptations of the world. Sin will catch you and slowly eat away at you. God offers life!
Thursday, August 12, 2010

MICAIAH: Speaking the Truth Despite the Cost - 1 Kings 22:1-40
From the series "The Forgotten." 1 Kings 22:1-40 - Sun, August 8, 2010. The temptation to fit in started when we were young. It’s easy to compromise a little just to fit in. However, as Christians, we’re called to stand out from the world. People may not want to hear the truth and they may not respond favorably, but we’re called to speak it anyway. Be bold despite the cost.
Saturday, August 7, 2010
Law & (Dis)order Pt. 2 - Acts 23:33-24:27
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 23:33-24:27 - Wed, August 4, 2010. The truth hurts. It can anyway, unless you’re living for Christ; and then, the truth is one of your greatest allies. It’s a terrible feeling to have to dodge the truth constantly, and it leads to a life of paranoia and pain. Don’t procrastinate the decision to follow Christ. It will be the one decision you’ll never regret!

Law & (Dis)order, Pt. 1 - Acts 23:1-32
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 23:1-32 - Wed, July 28, 2010. Like the Earth goes through seasons, so do we as Christians. Sometimes we experience a season of rich, fruitful ministry. Other times, life gets crazy and nothing seems to go right. That doesn’t mean ministry is over, it means that it’s different. Look for ministry opportunities in whatever season you’re in.

Lessons For Leaders - Acts 20:17-38
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 20:17-38 - Wed, July 14, 2010. It’s always good to hear insight on leadership- especially from a guy who was an exceptional leader, like Paul. As Christians, we are all in a leadership role – leading people to Christ. As we set out to do this, we should be watching for great examples, working on our lives, and warned of the tactics of the enemy

Phinehas: Sin Slayer Numbers 25
From the series "The Forgotten." Numbers 25 - Sun, July 11, 2010. The Bible describes Satan as a ferocious, roaring lion, on the prowl to kill (1 Peter 5:8). Unfortunately, most people treat him more like a cute little kitty cat. They want to follow him around and play with him. He will destroy your life by leading you into sin. Don’t put up with it. Slay the sin in your life at all costs – you won’t regret it!
Friday, July 2, 2010

Happily Ever After - Esther 9-10
From the series "God Is Nowhere." Esther 9-10 - Sat, June 26, 2010. In every Disney movie, the prince comes to save the princess by defeating the bad guy, then riding into the sunset to live happily ever after. Although the idea is similar with God rescuing His people, God’s methods are far more unpredictable and the outcome is unimaginably better! Trust and rejoice in His faithfulness and make sure the future generations don’t forget!

Seek opportunities for Him to use you and live in the light of the victory He’s promised!

One Goal, Many Gifts - Acts 18:18-28
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 18:18-28 - Wed, June 16, 2010. A football team is made up of many uniquely gifted athletes. You wouldn’t ask a lineman to kick a field goal – that’s the kicker’s job. It’s similar in the church. Each person is uniquely gifted, and just like that football team, we want to unite and use our abilities for one common goal. Take the Gospel to the end of the Earth!
Tuesday, June 15, 2010

From the series "God Is Nowhere." Esther 7 - Sat, June 12, 2010. We love when justice is served for the bad guy. When it comes to our own issues though, we like to stick with God’s grace and mercy. Wherever sin dwells, God wants to use YOU to defeat it. It may be around you, but it may also be inside you. Wherever the sin lies, it’s time to get rid of it and commit your life to Christ. Victory is guaranteed for God’s friends; defeat is guaranteed for His foes.

It’s tempting to want to give up at times, but there’s never a good reason to give up on following Christ. When no one else is around, He is. When you feel like quitting, remember that God has a plan behind the pain.

When God Intervenes - Esther 6
From the series "God Is Nowhere." Esther 6 - Sat, June 5, 2010. Big errors are easy to catch, but it’s the tiny misspelled words and punctuation errors that are the easiest to miss. Thankfully, our God deals in the details. Nothing gets by God. When the timing is just right, God will intervene and justice will be served. For God’s people, that’s a promise to cling to. For God’s enemies, that’s a promise to fear. Take hope: God WILL intervene!

Loving the Lost - Acts 17:16-34
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 17:16-34 - Wed, May 2, 2010. The world has flashing lights and the look of fun that goes with Las Vegas. Love the Lost by being bold and uncompromising with the Gospel!

Battle Tactics - Esther 5
From the series "God Is Nowhere." Esther 5 - Sat, May 29, 2010. With any game, there are different strategies that can be employed to win. Depending on personality and experience, different people will approach it in different ways. It’s the same way when fighting a spiritual battle. Satan has his own techniques that he thinks will work, but our major strategy is found in simply trusting in God. Stand confidently; wait patiently; and watch God deliver.

Turning the World Upside-Down - Acts 17:1-15
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 17:1-15 - Wed, May 26, 2010.Some Christians act like they’re living in the witness protection program, where their goal is to not let onto who they really are. A Christian’s life should be the opposite of that. Everywhere you go, people should know who you really are. If Jesus Christ has changed your life, then live like it – turn the world upside-down!
Tuesday, May 25, 2010
Now Is Your Chance - Esther 4
From the series "God Is Nowhere." Esther 4 - Sat, May 22, 2010. We all grew up making wishes when we blew out the candles on our birthday cakes. That mentality can carry over to the rest of our lives, however, when we begin wishing we were in a different position, different family, or different circle of friends. Instead of wishing for something different, rest in God’s providence and realize that God has placed you here for such a time as this!
God Knows Where He's Going - Acts 16:11-40
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 16:11-40 - Wed, May 19, 2010. Have you ever had a plan completely backfire? Satan has! He could write a book about it! Remember The Good Times So You Can Face The Bad Times - Joshua 3-4
A topical study in the book of Joshua - Sat, May 8, 2010. Life doesn’t always go as planned. In order to prepare yourself for
the unexpected, it’s important to keep God’s faithfulness fixed in the forefront of your mind. Sometimes those good memories are all that carry us though the tough times. Do whatever you need to to NEVER forget God’s faithfulness.

The Miss Persia Pageant - Esther 2:1-18
From the series "God Is Nowhere." Esther 2:1-18 - Sat, May 1, 2010. If you want to know what the world says will satisfy, watch TV for 10 minutes…or look at a few billboards…or look at what people spend their money on. Although the world’s lust and quest for pleasure is selfish and God-less, He hasn’t given up. In the midst of the world’s vanity, God positions His people for His glory.

The Prayer of a Patriot - Nehemiah 1
Guest Speaker Denver Miller teaches from the book of Nehemiah chapter 1. April 28, 2010.

God is a Mover and a Shaker - Acts 15:36-16:10
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 15:36-16:10 - Wed, April 21, 2010. Whether you’re a "calendar" person or a “do whatever” person, you still enjoy control and structure. Nobody particularly enjoys being told what to do and when to do it. Sometimes God is very direct like that, but other times, He’s more generic. Either way, He’s always moving things around and shaking things up! Get ready!

When God Gets Left Out - Esther 1
From the series "God Is Nowhere." Esther 1 - Sat, April 17, 2010. If you’ve gotten left out of something, you know the feeling of disappointment. It probably resulted in a change of plans or feeling of loneliness. That’s not how God works. Just because people leave Him out of their thoughts and actions, doesn’t mean He quits working. He’s always working – even if He goes unnoticed.

Jesus + Nothing - Acts 15:1-35
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 15:1-35 - Wed, April 14, 2010. On their own, the 2 chemicals used in epoxy are ineffective, but when mixed together, they’re extremely powerful. The Gospel is the opposite. When you mix the Gospel of salvation by grace through faith with anything else, it not only weakens it, but destroys it. Jesus is the ONLY way of salvation. Don’t add. Don’t subtract.

God Is Nowhere - Esther 1-10
From the series "God Is Nowhere." Esther 1-10 - Sat, April 10, 2010. Sometime when we look at our circumstances and struggles, it feels like God is nowhere. We need to remember that He is relentlessly pursuing us and providing for us in ways we don’t realize. Instead of thinking that God is nowhere, take an honest look at His faithfulness and realize that God is now here!

Living the Gospel - Acts 14
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 14 - Wed, April 7, 2010. When Jesus said that we are the “light of the world,” He didn’t mean only on weekends or when we feel like it – He meant always. The life of a Christian should always be a reflection of the Christ. The reason we exist is to glorify God and convince others to do the same. So stick with it. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it!

Funeral: CANCELED! - Matthew 27-28
A topical study in the book of Matthew - Sun, April 4, 2010. It’s one thing to be resuscitated – it’s another to be resurrected! Jesus didn’t survive death – He conquered it! Since He’s alive today, we all have the opportunity to be forgiven. It’s because Jesus canceled His funeral that we can cancel our eternal funeral! We may die physically, but with Christ, we won’t die spiritually!

God Doesn't Need Reminders (but we do) - Genesis 15:1-6
A topical study in the book of Genesis - Wed, March 31, 2010. Alarm clocks, calendars, expiration dates – they are all forms of reminders. Why do we need reminders? I forget. Oh, it’s because we forget things! Although there are many differences between us and God, one major difference is certainly His inability to forget or be unfaithful. For God to be unfaithful would be to deny the very essence of Who He is! So, as you continue on through life, if you get frustrated that God’s timing isn’t yours, remind yourself that He doesn’t need a reminder. He’s God!

A Bittersweet Parade - Mark 11:1-11
From the series "Premeditated" - Mark 11:1-11 Sat, March 27, 2010. Normally, a parade is full of laughing, fun, toys, balloons, and more – it’s a celebration! The spontaneous parade that began as Jesus rode into Jerusalem had plenty of celebration and happiness, but it was mixed with sadness as well. Although many people worshiped Jesus, He knew that His rejection and crucifixion were right around the corner. Commit your life to Christ and make sure you’re in heaven to worship Him forever! One day He’ll be back, but you don’t want to be here for that!

Don't Sugar-Coat the Gospel - Acts 13:14-52
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 13:14-52 - Wed, March 24, 2010. Since the Gospel message includes the truth about hell and God’s judgment, it’s tempting to want to sugar-coat it. That’s a dangerous habit to get into though, because what people really need is the full Gospel message. Like a pill, it may not be easy to swallow at first, but it saves lives! When you are faithful to the message and proclaim it boldly, you can expect a variety of responses. No matter the response, keep going – every human needs the Gospel whether they want it or not!

Death Forecast - Mark 10:32-45
From the series "Premeditated" - Mark 10:32-45 Sat, March 20, 2010. Have you ever been talking to someone, and although they’re nodding and agreeing with you, their eyes seem glazed over and you can tell they’re not hearing what you’re saying? That is how the disciples seemed to react as Jesus forecasted the details of His betrayal and death. As soon as He got done talking, they immediately continued to promote themselves and their agenda. Take a minute to consciously think through Jesus’ death for you. Don’t live like you’re all that matters. Jesus is what matters.

The Gospel Goes on Tour - Acts 12:25-13:13
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 12:25-13:13 - Wed, March 17, 2010. If you won the lottery, imagine how fast your friends would find out. You’d wake them up if they were sleeping to tell them the good news. Is it the same in your life when it comes to the Good News (the Gospel)? Jesus told His disciples to go to the end of the Earth with the Gospel and they did, but the job isn’t done. Our job isn’t finished until Jesus returns. It is our job to continue where Acts leaves off. How are you doing? Are you living the Gospel as well as talking about it? A balanced life does both!

It Began in the Garden - Genesis 3
From the series "Premeditated" - Genesis 3 Sat, March 13, 2010. Don’t think of God’s plan to redeem us from our sin as His “Plan B.” Of course it’s not what He wanted, but He knew all along that it would happen. Inevitably, sin would enter the human race and the perfect Lamb of God would have to die to redeem us from sin. From the very beginning of time, before you were even born, God had YOU and your eternity in mind – salvation was His plan from the beginning. God’s love and sacrifice is more than enough for any sin you’ve ever committed!

And the Winner Is... GOD! Like Always - Acts 12
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 12 - Wed, March 10, 2010. One of these days, God’s enemies will learn: don’t mess with God. Until that day, however, they will continue to suffer one embarrassing failure after the next in their pointless pursuit to defeat God. As miserable as that sounds, it’s easy for us to get caught up in sin and destructive behaviors that result in regret and pain. Not that following God will be pain-free, but at least when you’re obedient, the pain has a purpose. Don’t live in pointless regret and pain – surrender to Him – He always wins!

How To Give Back the Greenbacks - Philippians 4:15-23
From the series "To Live is Christ" - Philippians 4:15-23 Sat, March 6, 2010. When you are living paycheck to paycheck, barely making ends meet, the natural thing to do is to hoard as much extra money as you can and spend next to nothing. What would happen if you made giving to the Lord such a priority that you gave whether money was tight or not? Jesus’ bank account is never low and what we need to remember about giving to God is that it’s His money in the first place. He will always be faithful to provide for your needs, so worship Him by investing in the eternal.

Always A Step Ahead - Acts 11
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 11 - Wed, March 3, 2010. For the most part, people like to plan. We plan our days, our week, and we even look ahead to the next year or two. As far ahead as you can possibly think, however, God is always a step ahead. The difference is, our thoughts are normally just wishful thinking – His are reality. He’s open to all people and constantly a step ahead of us in helping more and more people see His love and His plan for them. The best thing we can do is hang on and enjoy the ride!

For Better or For Worse - Philippians 4:10-14
From the series "To Live is Christ" - Philippians 4:10-14 Sat, February 27, 2010. It’s easy to be happy when your gas tank and your fridge are full, but what about when you don’t know how you’re going to pay the bills or fix your car or feed your kids? That’s much harder. The world is literally killing themselves trying to find something to take their pain away. The problem is, they’re looking to things that, in the long run, will just bring more pain and disappointment. Not the case with Jesus. He infuses His strength into us so we can rejoice in good AND bad!

Behind the Scenes - Acts 10
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 10 - Wed, February, 24 2010. The view from the audience is much different than the view from behind the scenes. When you step back stage, you’re able to see how things get put together, how they run, and who’s involved in the finished product. Every day, we have an opportunity to work in coordination with the One who puts everything together and orchestrates everything from behind the scenes. His methods may be unconventional, but they are far-reaching and highly effective. The impossible happens DAILY!

Inside-Out Living - Philippians 4:8-9
From the series "To Live is Christ" - Philippians 4:8-9 Sat, February 20, 2010. Many people try to turn their lives around by changing their actions. Ultimately, a change in actions is what you want to happen, but it begins on the inside and works its way out. Trying to change your behavior without changing your thoughts is like trying to cure pneumonia by taking Nyquil – you’re just treating the symptoms. The symptoms of an uncontrolled thought life are uncontrolled actions. A Godly life begins with Godly actions.

God-Centered Worship - Psalm 95:1-7
A topical study in the book of Psalm - Wed, February 17, 2010. It’s all about ME...or at least that’s what the world tells us. We live in a custom-designed, have it your way, instant gratification world. We want what we want when we want it. That same attitude can carry over into our daily relationship with Jesus and it can even influence the way we worship. We need to go back to God-centered worship where God and His glory are our central theme and focus of our daily lives. It’s not easy to live this way, but it’s always worth it!

Lights, Camera, Actions! - Philippians 4:1-7
From the series "To Live is Christ" - Philippians 4:1-7 -20 Sat, February 13, 2010. We’ve all had bad days before – it happens. Some people seem to be having a bad life, though! As Christians, there’s no excuse for those types of actions. The way we act toward others and toward life in general says a lot about our God. It’s easy to become so self-centered that we become divisive, gloomy, harsh, and worried. None of those actions are necessary in the life of a follower of Christ; in fact, they can be dangerous. Turn your actions around and glorify Christ every day in every way.

Seeing the Big Picture - Acts 9:32-43
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 9:32-43 - Wed, February, 10 2010. Do you remember how frustrated you used to get with those 3D Magic Eye pictures from the 90s? Up close, it looks like a big mess with no meaning. However, when you step back and begin to see the whole picture, you realize there’s meaning to the madness. Life can be the same way. We can get so caught up with our own little world that we forget to be looking for how we can meet other people’s needs. When we begin to see the big picture, we can begin to live life like it’s meant to be lived!

When God and Man Collide - Acts 9:1-31
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 9:1-31 - Wed, February, 3 2010. When there’s a car wreck or some type of disaster, a crowd gathers. We’re obsessed with witnessing the carnage of a collision. In our own lives, a collision that completely flips us upside-down can be a great thing – it was for Saul. He didn’t see this collision coming, nor could he have – it was just his time. As he went about his normal, Christ-hating life, he came face-to-face with his Maker and it rocked his world. What will it take for you and God to collide? It’s the best collision you’ll ever be in!

A Secluded Desert Getaway - Acts 8:26-40
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 8:26-40 - Wed, January, 27 2010. Sometimes we’re convinced we know exactly where we should be. However, God’s opinion might be totally different. He told Philip to leave the booming, fruitful ministry in Samaria and head out to a secluded desert. That was it. He didn’t even say what was going to happen when he got there! However, Philip’s immediate obedience led to a life-changing opportunity that he met head-on. As we step out in obedience, God enables ministry to take place that we could have never planned. Will you obey?

Don't Get Comfortable - Philippians 3:17-20
From the series "To Live is Christ" - Philippians 3:17-20 Sat, January 23, 2010. The longer people hang out together, the more they begin to look like each other. They often dress, act, and talk similarly. Patterning your life after someone else’s can be good if they’re leading you in the right direction. If not, it can be very dangerous. Paul is well aware of this fact. He’s seen far too many people follow each other into destruction. So, the warning is to make sure that our lives are patterned after Christ and His people. We don’t belong on Earth, so don’t get comfortable.

Be A Follower, Not A Faker - Acts 8:1-25
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 8:1-25 - Wed, January, 20 2010. Nobody likes a fake. Whether it’s food, clothes, or money, the real thing is always best. According to the US Secret Service website, when you’re comparing a real dollar bill to a counterfeit, you should “look for differences, not similarities.” It’s the same with Christianity. There are many people who have fooled themselves into thinking they’re the real thing. Although there might be a few similarities, if you really examine their lives and their motives, the truth will come out. So…which one are you?

Undivided Attention - Philippians 3:12-16
From the series "To Live is Christ" - Philippians 3:12-16 Sat, January 16, 2010. We live in a world of multi-tasking. It is virtually impossible to do only one thing for any length of time. Those physical habits can wreck us spiritually. We need to STOP and FOCUS, giving God our undivided attention. Paul understood that. He was tired of acting perfect, being content with where he was, and basing his future on his past achievements. He threw it all away to put his undivided attention on ONE thing: reaching for Jesus Christ. What is your attention on?

When Good Men Go Bad - Acts 6:8-7:60
From the series "To the End of the Earth" Acts 6:8-7:60 - Wed, January, 13 2010. We live in a world of broken promises. The phrase “100% Guaranteed” always comes with fine print. Thankfully, we serve a God that has never broken a promise and never will. For God, faithfulness is more than just a characteristic, it’s part of who He is! Keep that in mind when you’re facing opposition, persecution, or have an opportunity to share your faith. Don’t back down. Call sin what it is, but always point back to Jesus. Remember: it’s not about their reaction – it’s about your obedience.

One Man's Treasure is Another Man's Trash - Philippians 3:7-11
From the series "To Live is Christ" - Philippians 3:7-11 Sat, January 9, 2010. Thrift stores thrive off of the idea that one man’s trash can be another man’s treasure, but have you ever thought about reversing that idea? Paul did. The very things that he used to treasure – the “good” things he had done that made him feel good about himself – those became trash to him when he found Christ. When you commit your life to Christ, your value system will be completely changed and you’ll begin to recognize what really matters. Is your treasure in your good deeds or in God?
